We are delighted to let you know that Lucy the Dragon Charity Book raised the incredible amount of €1579,50, which was shared with Drogheda Womens Refuge, Dundalk Womens Refuge and Drogheda Homeless Aid.

Thank you so much to all people who supported this great initiative and to Carol McGowan, who imagined and completed the project successfully!

Lucy the Dragon was officially launched in Waterstones Book Store in Scotch Hall Shopping Centre in Drogheda on Saturday the 22nd of November at 2 pm.

The writer of this book is Carol McGowan, a mother of 3 children, a social worker and a lecturer in Social Care at Dundalk Institute of Technology. We are sincerely thankful for her generous decision to donate all proceeds of the sale to three charities: Drogheda Women's & Children's Refuge, Women’s Aid Dundalk and Drogheda Homeless Aid.

The story originated as a bedtime story for her daughters, illustrated by one of them.

Lucy the Dragon’s story reinforces a number of important life lessons for children, some of which are telling the truth, being happy with the gifts you have and the value of embracing difference in our communities. The hurt and pain of bullying is outlined and addressed with empathy and understanding. We hope that you enjoy reading this story to your child as much as we enjoyed creating it. Love and best wishes." Carol McGowan

The book can still be bought on campus in the College Shop, Dundalk Institute of Technology and the refuge shops in Drogheda (Butterfly Boutique and Library in Stockwell Street).

We hope Lucy the Dragon does her bit to make your three charities have an easier Christmas and we hope those that support your charities will get behind the project.” Carol McGowan
